Physical Therapy and Cancer Treatment
Patients with breast cancer often face some type of surgery, whether it is a lumpectomy, lymph node removal, mastectomy or breast reconstruction. Patients who have other types of breast cancer treatment such as radiation or chemotherapy can experience side effects including Cancer Related Fatigue and scar tissue formation. Premier Physical Therapists are trained to help patients manage side effects of surgical and non-surgical treatments.
Lymph node dissection often causes lymphedema, which causes the patient’s arm to swell and become immobilized. Premier’s expert therapists provides individualized care inluding:
• Pre-operative screenings
• Education on reducing lymphedema risk
• Lymphedema therapy
• Treatment for Axillary Web Syndrome
• Scar tissue work
• Post-breast reconstruction rehabilitation

Premier Services
Our Cancer Rehabilitation Program includes treatment for patients diagnosed with other types of cancer, such as head and neck cancer, leukemia, lymphoma, lung cancer, melanoma, prostate cancer and colon cancer.
The Premier staff includes local members of the American Cancer Society, active participants of the Orthopedic and Oncology sections of the American Physical Therapy Association, and a board-certified Orthopedic Physical Therapist Specialist. All are dedicated to providing individualized care based on the latest scientific evidence.
